In other news, am reading Macbeth and have been horrible at commenting lately, for which I apologize. This fucking play is messing up my speech patterns, soon I'll be speaking in iambic pentameter just for the hell of it. :/ Skimming through it in search for soliloquies, which is probably what will take the most time, since the actual assignment is only supposed to be a page or so. Hopefully I'll finish it, because I seriously cannot take the stress of procrastinating right now. *sigh*

The police preemptive riot control bullshit that's been going around my flist is both horrifying and pissing me off something fierce. What the actual fucking fuck, yo? The only thing I can think of is the Communist witch hunt in the 60's, and it freaks the fuck out of me. America is not a police state, guys. You know what, fuck it, whatever personal reservations I may have about Obama, I hope he kicks McCain's ass in the election. As much as this whole "I believe in Barack Obama, he's our Savior, glory glory hallelujah" reaction is freaking me out, the guy does at least seem passionate enough. (As an aside: how amused am I that Obama's middle name is Hussein? SO AMUSED.)

Funnily enough, I've never been this invested in Swedish politics. I think that says something about me.

I went out tonight -- actually out! -- down to the student union bar and got a beer and listened to some live music. It was decent, except for some wonky amps, and the singer had the most gorgeous blue eyes I've ever seen. Party songs that people love to hear in Sweden include La Bamba, Sweet Home Alabama, Bad Moon Rising and a lot of shitty popsongs I've never even heard since I don't listen to the radio. I also may be a complete light-weight when it comes to beer, because whooo!

I woke up this morning and nearly had a heart attack, because my parents had bought me a FUCKING IPOD FUCKING NANO as a birthday present. I've been walking around all day, randomly shouting FUCKING IPOD FUCKING NANO and flailing all day at nothing in particular. Happy birthday to me, indeed.

But just now I got a letter from my BFF, Jennie (jjsr), who is living in France at the moment. And while it's lovely to get a letter from her, and to read about everything she does (she got herself a brand new fucking laptop! We can chat! Woo!) I still miss her like I'm missing a limb. She's my best friend and I can't even speak to her on the phone. It sucks so fucking much, you can't even believe.

She's been an au pair for almost a year now, and she'll be back in the country in two months, and I fucking MISS HER. See, Jennie is an utterly, utterly amazing person, and she has that rare talent of actually listening to people when they speak. She's not a fangirl at all, really, but she'll let me babble for hours about this type of shit and what is more, she WANTS to know. Even though she herself isn't that overly invested in my fannish interests and such, she wants to know because she knows it's important to me. She can listen to me babble about my novel as well, and she's the first person I call for input on story ideas. She knows her shit, right?

And yeah, okay, she's a ditz and has her bad sides and her love problems are pretty epic, but she's the best girl I know. In short, I love the shit out of her.

I felt weird when I did this for Gerard. I was thinking about skipping it, because I don't love the dude THAT much, but then I thought... he is only eleven days older than me. And he's turning 21, which is a pretty fucking big deal in the states as far as I gather. And April children needs the love, people! So.

Alright, it's Easter holiday and I'm officially free until next Tuesday. I'm going to go to my sister's and celebrate my sister's kid's birthday -- one years old this Tuesday! -- so I won't be back until then at the earliest. I'm just peeking in now to check my email and procrastinate in my packing.

I have checked out birthdays, and lo, it was enjoyable. I'm constantly boggled by knowing that these guys are my age, I'm so used to being enamored by people much older than me (I mean, I think Orlando Bloom was one of the younger at ten years my senior -- but then I was 14 when I obsessed about him), and now I realize that a couple of them are actually younger? Jeez. Not by much, mind you, but still.

I'm also intensely amused by the fact that Brendon Urie is only actually 11 days older than me. And Patrick Stump? Like 2 years and 364 days older than me. I don't know why this is so amusing to me, but it is. Also, one perk to me being a practical baby in fandom circles is the fact that I hardly ever have to feel like I'm checking out the jailbait. Yay?

On another note... most of these people are older than me (take Gee for example, 10 years, 2 weeks), but I still refer to them as boys. I do this with Joe Flanigan and David Hewlett as well, and they're around forty both of them. Ironic, I feel, that a tiny twenty-year old sits here and calls men twenty years her senior "boys". It has spread too, into my regular speech patterns. My sister hates it. Oh, well. Fandom see how you destroy me!

For the first time today I can finally sit down in front of my computer and check my mail. Studying is a vortex of evil, lemme tell ya. However, this is not to be about me.
